WHAT WALKERS NEED TO KNOW:
Walkers must accept the terms of the Fundraising Agreement at the time of registration. The information in the agreement has been outlined below. Read the full agreement.
Please note: Participants can fundraise for the 2013 event once registration opens in early February through October 31, 2013. The fundraising minimum is due September 30, 2013.
Read the Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about fundraising and event details.
All registered walkers are responsible for reaching the $300 fundraising minimum or $100 for children 12 and younger by September 30, 2013. The fundraising goal you choose when registering is not the amount you are responsible for raising.
Please note: All children 18 and younger must have a parent fill out their online registration for them.
Credit Card Policy:
The $300 (or $100 for children 12 and younger) fundraising minimum is due by September 30, 2013. Before registration is processed, all participants must accept personal responsibility for the fundraising minimum. After September 30, 2013, any balance due will be charged to the credit card submitted during registration.
Example: If a walker has only raised $200 by September 30, 2013, the credit card that the walker registered with will be charged the remaining $100.
A fee of $25 is required at the time of registration (A fee of $40 is required if registering during event weekend, September 7 and September 8). Please note that the registration fee does not count as part of the fundraising minimum requirement.
Collect your Gifts:
Ask people to support your Walk by giving in any of the following ways:
- Credit Cards: Encourage supporters to make gifts online using a credit card, the most efficient and cost-effective way to give.
- Check or Money Orders: All checks can be made payable to the Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk. If checks are accidentally made out to you, please endorse the back as "Pay to the order of the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk," and sign your name.
- Matching Gifts: Thousands of companies match all or a portion of a charitable gift made by an employee. Ask each supporter to check with his or her company's Human Resources department to find out if his or her workplace has this kind of program. Please note that matching gifts do not appear on your fundraising page at the same time as the original gift.
- Gifts of Stock/Securities: Making a gift of stock or securities rather than cash is easy and offers many benefits. If this option appeals to you or your supporters, visit Dana-Farber.org's stocks page for more information.
