|Conquer cancer with the Jimmy Fund Walk!|
|Well, 2016 put me back in the game. In June, after six+ years cancer-free (oral), a tumor was found in my left lung. Surgery removed the tumor and my lower left lobe which was collapsed and diseased. I recovered well from surgery. In January 2017, I applied for a trial to deal with two new lung tumors. During the screening for the study, a nodule was discovered in my brain. Brain surgery! See the magnificent sewing above. Good news: the gifted and vibrant neurosurgeons got all the tumor (MRIs don't lie.)|
A week long course of radiation to the site of the brain tumor was recommended by the radiation oncologist. That went well with few side effects.
We had a month off. The time gap was required before starting a trial study comparing standard of treatment (extreme regime chemotherapy) to a pair of immunotherapy drugs. I was randomly assigned to the control group (chemo) and was able to complete all six cycles. My lung tumors shrunk 45%. I will be on a weekly maintenance dose of Erbitux for an indefinite time determined by my imaging.
Am gaining strength after chemo. Feel well, strong, and have a fine appetite.
